Orange Shirt Day matters because we pause to listen to the truth about residential schools and honor Indigenous children, families, and communities. When kids learn this history with care, they build empathy and understand why we say Every Child Matters. Indigenous students feel seen and respected. All students learn that remembering and acting with kindness helps make school a safe place for everyone. Wearing orange is a small promise to do better together.
